    What Changes When You Stop Expecting Wear

    Carbide wears by design—not intentionally, but predictably. Each machining pass removes a fraction of the edge. The operator knows when to expect the finish to degrade, when to plan the next tool change, and when to adjust offsets. Production planning revolves around this known decay.

    PCD removes the decay from the equation. The diamond layer is not a coating that can wear through. It is a sintered cutting structure that resists the very mechanism that consumes carbide. In the materials where carbide deteriorates fastest—aluminum, composites, plastics—PCD remains stable. The shift-based tool change becomes a weekly or monthly interval.

    Rewriting the Thermal Equation

    The conventional heat loop is self-defeating: friction raises temperature, temperature reduces hardness, reduced hardness increases friction. The edge fails from within.

    Diamond interrupts this loop at the first step. Its thermal conductivity—approximately five times that of carbide—drains heat away from the cutting zone before it can accumulate.
