    Edge Material: Sintered polycrystalline diamond, not a coating. The diamond layer is the cutting medium itself — metallurgically bonded, not deposited. 8,000 HV nominal hardness. Zero chemical affinity with aluminum, copper, and most engineering polymers. Chip adhesion at the cutting face is physically impossible under normal operating conditions.

    Thermal Path: Diamond conductivity ≈ 5× tungsten carbide. Heat generated at the shear zone transfers into the chip body, not the tool substrate. Continuous dry or MQL operation is standard practice. No thermal softening cycle. No parameter reduction across the shift.

    Workpiece Envelope: Every commercially relevant non-ferrous alloy. Every fiber-reinforced composite. Graphite. Engineered plastics.

    Ceramic-filled polymers. The limitation is ferrous content, not abrasive loading — diamond reacts with iron-group metals at cutting temperatures. Outside that boundary, tool wear is negligible within a production shift.

    Positional Drift: Not observed at meaningful scale. Edge geometry stability across the full service interval means cutting forces remain flat. No compensation adjustment required between first article and batch completion. Hole position, bore diameter, and shoulder dimensions hold within the machine's positioning capability, not the tool's wear state.

    Geometry: Stock diameters are a convenience, not a constraint. Reach length, nose radius, rake face geometry, clearance angle, chip-breaker profile — each is an adjustable variable. Application data drives design decisions.
